Solving Financial Problems

Since Financial Stress is a major cause of health problems, I do want to address how I solved my financial problems and got out of serious debt in 2000.

First however, I want to share a thought with you. It often seems that we humans have the attitude that God is simply a ruler, a judge and vindictive toward us. But nothing could be further from the truth.

Dr Wayne Dyer says it something like this......

"God is not withholding.... What if you knew a person that had everything you needed for your happiness but refused to give you anything unless you do his bidding, ask properly and behave as he wants you to. Furthermore, he has the ability to heal you of what ails you, but allows you to suffer for now and may consider healing you at some future date.

This would not be a very nice person, much less a very nice God.

Is this the type of withholding, punishing God that you imagine? In the scriptures it clearly says "Everything I have is yours". Whatever you need in the present moment is yours. You are not being punished. God does not exist to punish you as it would be inconsistent with a loving, forgiving God."


The first time I heard this, it made sense to me. I had struggled for several years in both business and my personal life because I felt God was punishing me for not being a better person.  This feeling that "God Was Punishing Me" lead to self sabotage, further failures, more depression and additional hardships.  It wasn't until I turned around these feelings that things started to change for me.

How I Discovered The Power Of God

Not long ago, I found myself in a heap of trouble.  I had been trying for over 4 years to get an internet marketing business off the ground and I was deeply in debt, with nothing to show for it.  Through a series of bad choices and bad business decisions I had managed to blow through over $140,000 and had only a few hundered dollars per month of revenue to show for it.

I had recently fallen victim to a "Marketing Consultant" who was supposed to help me get several key clients but after paying him nearly $14,000 his clients stole my ideas and he left me for dead.  There was no money left to try other options, the Internet Bubble had burst and I was at the end of my rope.

In the months leading up to this, I had luckily began moving back toward my spiritual roots.  For the previous 12 years I had an attitude that I was going to make it in the world on My Own Terms.....  but that apparently wasn't God's plan for me.  Therefore, I found myself submerged in a series of unending failures and disappointments.  It was as if there was a target on my back!

One Night, realizing I was at the end of the line I decided it was time for ME to give up!

I didn't give up my dream of a successful business......  instead, I gave up trying to make it on my own.  I was so tired of struggling day after day with no visible signs of progress.  At that point I knew I had to turn to God and ask for help in order to find success.  I told God that I was tired of failing, that I didn't have the strength to go on and that I wanted him to take control of my business and my life. 

My prayer went something like this:

Dear Lord.....  I surrender!  I have spent the last 12 years of my life working and have nothing to show for it.  Today I stand here before you with nothing but the shirt on my back and a mountain of debt.   Lord, please show me the way.  Please show me what you want me to do with my life.  Use me as a tool to help others and show me how to lead a productive and meaningful life.   Dear Lord, at this time I turn my life over to you.  Amen

Instantly, a feeling of calm washed over me.  I knew for the first time in my life I had truly made a connection with God.  I fell into my bed exhausted and went to sleep knowing that things were going to be different.

An Amazing Turn Around

I needed an immediate change in my life in order to avoid bankruptcy, but I once again had faith that the answer would come.  I had no immediate insights as to how this was going to occur, but it did.  Over the next few weeks things began to fall into place and within a 90 days my business revenues had grown nearly 10 fold. 

Looking back, I believe that once I knew God was on my side it gave me the power to succeed.  Many times we don't achieve success unless we feel we truly deserve to achieve it.  That's why I'm now committed to helping others discover the Power Of God and help them to achieve the success they deserve in their lives.

It took me 2 1/2 years to make a 180 degree financial turn around.  Today, there are still bumps in the road but each success leads to a new high and the lows aren't nearly as severe as they used to be.

Let God Solve Your Problems!

This is something truly amazes me, even after several years of seeing the results.  When I have a serious problem that I can't overcome I always find myself lying awake in the middle of the night.  I will lay there thinking of possible solutions, worrying about the negative consequences and generally feeling miserable.

But a couple years back, I broke this pattern.  Now after a few moments of worrying I simply say "God, I am hopeless to solve this one.  Lord, I turn this problem over to you." 

Then I mentally transfer the problem over to God, breathe a sigh of relief and go back to sleep.  From that point forward I know with 100% certainty that the problem will work out, it always does.  Since I've been using this method of problem solving, I have never had a single problem that remained unresolved for more than a few weeks. 

The Power of God is simply amazing.  If you use this technique, I believe you will be as amazed as I am. 

Learn To Live Without Fear!

For me, my biggest problem was self-sabotage because I didn't feel I deserved success.  I lived in a state of constant anxiety and fear of the uncertain future ahead of me.

Here is a prayer that I recently heard and felt that it goes along with the theme of this page:

We don't look like we're afraid Father, and we don't look like we're hurting, but the fear and the pain are very real.  We try to hide our fears and our pain from each other and even from ourselves.  We're afraid of being alone.  We're afraid of being jobless.  We're afraid that we've made too many mistakes.  Lord, we offer these fears to You and ask You to give us courage as we look to You, the One who knows no fear.  We ask Your forgiveness and strength to forgive ourselves.  Help us face the challenges in our lives with Your love and Your grace.  Amen.

Many Christians do not find success because of feeling of guilt.  Get past these feelings and understand that God wants you to live an abundant life in every way.  If it bothers you to focus monetary gain, just realize that Money allows freedom.  Freedom allows you to live the life you want to live, help those you want to help and not be confined to the daily grind!  Any feelings of guilt can be overcome with generosity!  Once you begin sharing with others who are less fortunate, you will see the real power of God!
